Verde Certificate
At GBC España we offer an Environmental Building Certificate method through our official evaluating tool:
GBCE – VERDE
All activities carried out by GBCe as a Certification Body are governed by Impartiality, Technical Competence, Responsibility, Transparency and Confidentiality.
WHAT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL BUILDING CERTIFICATE?
VERDE –GBCe’s Environmental Certificate -, acknowledges the reduction in environmental impact of the building, compared to a standard reference building. This building is a model conceived according to the minimum parameters established by law and common practice.
VERDE entails the recognition by an independent organization - unrelated to the developer or designer - of the ecological values of a building by applying an internationally approved evaluating method.
ENVIRONMENTAL BUILDING CERTIFICATE LEVELS
VERDE establishes the existence of 6 Levels of Certification that allow a separate evaluation of the environmental merits each project requesting a certification has.
Therefore, a scale has been created:
HOW DO I TO APPLY FOR A CERTIFICATE?
The Certification Process is further explained in the Certification Procedure section of our web.
WHICH BUILDINGS CAN APPLY FOR A CERTIFICATE?
At present, GBC España only certifies RESIDENTIAL and OFFICE buildings.
We are currently developing evaluation methods that will allow us to certify other types of buildings.
CAN FINISHED/COMPLETED BUILDINGS APPLY FOR A CERTIFICATE?
GBCe certifies buildings that are both in project phase or finished and in use. The evaluating routine and certificate levels are the same. The only difference between buildings that are finished and those that are already being used is the data that must be handed in during the Certification Process.
The final certificate emitted by GBC España draws special attention to the scope of the Certification, the scale of the building as well as its situation, where it in project phase, finished or in use.
CAN I IMPROVE MY VERDE SCORE ONCE THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN ISSUED?
During the Certification Process, or even after it has been completed, improvements to the sustainability and energeticperformance of the building can be included, hence allowing it to be qualified with a higher VERDE score.
For this it is compulsory to apply for a Certificate revision and subsequent evaluation in accordance with VERDE.
WHO EVALUATES THE BUILDING?
To obtain VERDE Environmental Certificate the petitioner must include in his/her application an evaluation carried out by an Authorized Evaluator.
The Authorized Evaluator official approval process can be consulted in the Authorized Evaluators section of our web. You will also find an up to date list of all our Authorized Evaluators, at public disposal.
CAN I SELF -EVALUATE MY BUILDING BEFORE I APPLY FOR A CERTIFICATE?
Anybody interested - developer, builder or designer -, can environmentally evaluate their project, consequently giving an approximate of the VERDE score it will achieve when assessed by an Authorized Evaluator.
These self-evaluations are an extremely useful tool to be included in the design process, as they permit the inclusion of constructive solutions, design measures and precautions for the future use and maintenance of the building, thus noticeably improving its environmental behavior.
HOW CAN I DEEPEN MY KNOWLEDGE ON THE VERDE EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION METHOD?
To acquire detailed information on VERDE’s evaluation method you can go to the Tools section of our web or contact GBCe directly by filling in the Certificate Application form.
